On February 13, 2025, St. Mary’s University’s Research and Knowledge Management Office (RaKMO) organized a half-day training session focused on ameliorate research writing skills. The training took place in the Syndicate Room at the Main Campus and was offered by Wondwosen Tamrat (Associate Professor), the founder and president of the University.

The training session began with an opening speech by  Misganaw Solomon (PhD), the Vice President for Research and International Relations (VPRIR). In his speeches, he emphasized the salient of such events in developing research writing skills. He also acknowledged RaKMO’s dedication to providing capacity-building opportunities for staff members, highlighting this training as part of its ongoing commitment.

The session was attended by over forty-five participants from staff members and postgraduate students. It was an informative and engaging event, featuring practical exercises designed to help attendees grasp fundamental procedural and technical aspects of the research writing. It also offered valuable tips and tricks for the participants whose reflections on the discussions made the training more interactive.

During the training, Wondwosen Tamrat (Associate Professor) imparted his rich experiences with the trainees. His experiences provided them with the opportunity to imbibe valuable insights from his experiences in the field of research.

The training was an indispensable step towards building research writing competencies among the University’s staff and students promoting a culture of writing researches.
